Want perfect rice every single time? Using the instant pot takes all of the hassle out of making perfect rice at home within minutes.

As I have said before, our instant pot has been one of our most used and most loved wedding gifts and this continues to be true. Our favorite thing to make in the instant pot is rice. Rice is a great addition to so many meals and with this method we get perfect instant pot rice every single time without any hassle.

Ingredients
This is super simple, you just need the rice of your choice, water, and salt. The rice we almost always use is long grain white jasmine rice, but any rice will do. We have also made risotto in the instant pot with Arborio rice – talk about delicious! We use the ratio of 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups of water with a pinch of salt for the jasmine rice. Make sure if you’re going to use different rice to look at the recommended cooking ratio of that specific rice, as they may vary.
Instant Pot Settings
The instant pot needs to be set at high pressure for 3 minutes. Make sure to turn off the keep warm function. When the cooking time is over the instant pot can do a natural release for at least 10 minutes. If you haven’t used an instant pot or pressure cooker before, there is also time that it takes to reach pressure before the cook time begins that varies depending on the pressure you’re trying to achieve and the contents inside the pot. So to make perfect instant pot rice takes about 15-20 minutes total. The best part is that once you seal the lid you don’t have to do anything else or even think about the rice again until you’re ready to serve it. I seem to always have a pot of rice boiling over on the stove when I attempt to make it without the instant pot. This eliminates that mess and hassle for me so I can focus on the rest of the meal.

Perfect Instant Pot Rice Variations
Plain rice is great, and goes great with so many dishes. But there are also endless variations and flavor combinations you can use to create perfect rice every time. A combination we love to use for Mexican inspired dishes is cilantro lime rice. For this you use the same ingredients you normally would and add in lime juice and fresh or dried cilantro. You can also try lemon juice for lemon flavored rice as a nice fresh side for some roasted vegetables. I also mentioned earlier the option of using arborio rice to make risotto. Again, the options are endless and don’t be afraid to experiment and come up with a new family favorite rice!
