The perfect accompaniment to almost any dish are these delicious quick homemade candied jalapenos, as they go great on burgers, sandwiches, nachos, tacos, eggs, etc.

This year for Christmas I was preparing for what homemade gifts I could lovingly give our friends and family and my husband suggested these quick homemade candied jalapenos that he makes often in our house. These sweet and spicy jalapenos ended up being gifted to my brother, who, like us, basically puts them on everything. We made a double batch this time to keep a jar for ourselves. Typically used on meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and haven’t found anything yet that they haven’t added a boost of flavor to. We top burgers, sandwiches, nachos, tacos, pizzas, eggs, and so much more. I have even used them in a homemade sourdough cheddar jalapeno bread that we used to make homemade sourdough egg in a hole for breakfast.
Ingredients
This list of ingredients is so short and includes so many staples you probably already have on hand. You’ll need about 20 medium sized jalapenos, so run to the store to grab those or pick some from your own homegrown plants. The rest of the ingredients include apple cider vinegar, white sugar, light brown sugar, ground mustard, cumin, garlic powder, and chili powder. That’s really it, so simple!

How to Make Candied Jalapenos
The process of making these quick homemade candied jalapenos is just as short and simple as the ingredient list. The longest part of the process is slicing all of those jalapenos into thin rings, grab a friend to help or play some music and sing along while you work. You can use gloves to slice the jalapenos if your sensitive to the juice. You need a medium to large sauce pan to add all of the ingredients to except the jalapenos and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes and then add in your sliced jalapenos and continue to boil. You will then need a slotted spoon to remove the jalapenos and place them into a jar. The mixture will then continue to boil until reduced into a syrup type liquid. Once your liquid has reduced, you simply add it to the jar with the jalapenos. Place the lid on the jar, allow it to come to room temperature and then place in the fridge. Done! Now the hard part is the wait, these jalapenos are best enjoyed after about 2 weeks to get the right sweetness.
